The Skiing - Piste Map

Welcome to Montgenèvre, in the Hautes-Ales, on the French-Italian border. Part of the Milky-way, Montgenèvre, provides cross-border skiing and 400km of slopes. The Milky-way gives access to a huge ski area including Sestriere and Sauze D'oux. Within Europe’s highest larch woods, you get tree-lined skiing at altitude in the forest above Claviere. Montgenèvre is at 1860m, creating great snow conditions until late April. There are lots of runs back to the resort, so no walking or catching buses at the end of the day.
We love the great lift system, lack of queues and uncrowded slopes. Have a look at the piste map.

In the Montgenevre / Claviere ski area there are 100km of pistes - 7 green - 24 Blue - 40 red - 15 Black and 35 ski lifts, most of them high speed chairlifts. In addition there's a half-pipe, a free-ride zone and two fun runs. In addition there's 23km of nordic ski trails.

The Milky way has over 400km of pistes - 33 Green - 142 Blue - 309 Red - 117 Black with 76 ski lifts.

Beginners
A great ski school and a friendly village atmosphere, make this the perfect place to learn to ski.
There's a safe beginners’ area of 50,000m2. Unlike many resorts, you very quickly get to experience the high moutain and wonderful views, skiing some of the lovely long blues and greens in Montgenèvre.
Group or private lessons with english speaking French instructors are available. We can recommend specific insttructors for your needs.

Intermediate
The blues and reds of Montgenèvre and Claviere, the wide slopes, free of mogul fields, make this the perfect place to practice your carving turns, enjoy the scenery, challenge yourself, or just hunt for the perfect hot chocolate in the 10 mountain restaurants. We arrange away days to different resorts, so you can experience Serre Chevalier, Sauze d’Oulx, Sestriere and SanSicario, all for FREE on your weekly ski pass.

Advanced
There are enough reds, blacks and off-piste in the Milky Way to keep the most demanding skiers happy.
Our Ski safari weeks will ensure 4 or 5 away days, skiing up to 9 different resorts. If that isn’t enough, the La Grave off-piste area is only 45 minutes away, as is Val Thorens. As it’s at 1860m, Montgenèvre is a snow-sure resort.

Boarders
There's a half-pipe, two fun runs and a free-ride zone. Most of the lifts are fast chairs, perfect for the boarder. In addition there's some great off-piste. 2010 was an epic year for powder.

Cross Country / Touring / Telemark
There are 23km of prepared trail between Montgenevre and Claviere. In addition, the Claré valley, 10km away, has some of the most beautiful and extensive trails, covering 45kms.
Telemark equipment can be hired in resort and there a few excellent instructors in this noble art.

resorts
